This project involves the construction of a 400 meter railway viaduct across Borough Market in the South East of London. Work also includes demolition of existing buildings to make way for the new rail structure, the temporary relocation of The Borough Market to an adjacent area and the removal, refurbishment and reconstruction of the existing cast iron market structure.
The contract commenced in July 2009 following a period of carrying out enabling works. The majority of the demolition and Phase 1 piling has been completed. Construction of the viaducts is ongoing. The construction works are scheduled for completion in August 2012.
